My favorite pasttime: audiobooks

Hi Guys!
I have a very exciting post for you today. It's all about the plattform BOOKBEAT. They are an online subscription service, which gives you unlimited audiobooks.

I really love reading but between ballet, college and homework (which includes a lot of reading as it is) it's hard to find time or motivation to read but with the BOOKBEAT app, I can listen to my books on the go.
I just finished listining to Divergent (by Veronica Roth) which I've been wanting to re-read for ages now. Listen to it here, it's one of my favorite books ever!
Here are some insights for you:

I also love to listen to my audiobooks before going to sleep, so the built-in sleep timer is super handy, too.

You can browse through audiobooks by genres or search for specific audiobooks and download them to listen to offline. I currently have the Divergent Trilogy, Flawed and Perfect by Cecelia Ahern and Silber by Kerstin Gier downloaded and can't wait to listen to all of them.

They have a great selection of audiobooks from historical novels to kids books, so there should be something for everyone.

The subscription is only 14,99 per months, which I think is a pretty good deal considering you get unlimited access to all audiobooks and can listen to as many as you want to and you don't have to purchase extra credits if you want to start listening to a new book before returning the old one!

With the Code lauliedancer you can even get a a free month membership. You can redeem the code here.

I'd love to know what you're listening to and definitely send me your recommendation for what I should listen to next!

See you soon.
Yours,
Laulie

(This post is sponsored by bookbeat but my opinion is unbiased and I would never advertise a company I don't actually support!)

Respect and Repetition

Hi Guys,
long time no post... I'm really sorry for that but life is getting crazy. Anyway, I really want to talk to you guys about 2 very imporatant things in ballet: respect and repetition.
Let's start off with respect. Personally I feel like this goes without saying but of course you should ALWAYS respect your teacher, no matter if it's in school or ballet or anywhere else in life. This is probably a no brainer to most of you but recently I've come across some people who don't seem to think so and let's just say the arguments I've witnessed weren't pretty.
Also respect your fellow dancers. Just because you feel like you got more experience than someone else doesn't mean the other person is stupid. Don't assume someone else is going to feel the same way you do, especially if you don't know their story. See your own weaknesses and work on them instead of taking it out on others.
And most importantly of all: respect yourself. I know in ballet it can be really hard to not loose self-esteem at some point cause you keep seeing all the other people that are better than you. You see all those ballerinas on Instagram effordlessly turning 10 pirouettes and sometimes you just think "Why am I even doing this?" The point is: if you work hard to improve, there WILL be improvement. People are not able to see their own improvement, sometimes which doesn't mean it's not their. We simply overlook it because it still doesn't look like we want it to look but what we keep forgetting: there is more to ballet than being able to do 10 pirouettes cause let's face it: nobody's ever going to expect a professional ballerina to turn 10 pirouettes on stage. Artistry is what makes a dancer unique. Of course technique is important but clean technique makes even a single pirouette or a simple tendu look so much better.
This brings me to my second point: repetition. As dancers we are used to repetition, but that doesn't mean we get bored of it occasionally and of course I've heard people complain about it. The simple truth to that is though: repetition is the key to pretty much everything in ballet and every other aspect of life. What's the point in even doing something if you can do it perfectly the first time? Where is the drive? Every dancer knows when they go to class, they will be doing the same steps over and over again. That's just how ballet works. The body is not made to do ballet so we have to keep our muscles strong to keep doing what we're doing and that's exactly what we need repetition for.

Hope you liked it and please let me know what you think!
See you soon!
